MY PRESENTATION

WHERE WAS HIP HOP ORIGENATED  Hip hop (stylized as Hip-Hop) is a broad conglomerate of artistic forms that originated within a marginalized subculture in theSouth Bronx and quickly spread through other parts of New York City such as Harlem among African American and other Blackyouth mostly from the Caribbean during the 1980s. [2][3][4][5] It is characterized by four distinct elements, all of which represent the different manifestations of the culture: rap music (oral), turntablism or "DJing" (aural), breaking (physical) and graffiti art(visual). Even while it continues in contemporary history to develop globally in a flourishing myriad of diverse styles, these foundational elements provide stability and coherence to the culture. [2] The term is frequently used mistakenly to refer in a confining fashion to the mere practice of rap music. 5 REASON  The origin of the hip hop subculture stems from the block parties of the Ghetto Brothers, when they plugged the amps for their instruments and speakers into the lampposts on 163rd Street and Prospect Avenue, and from DJ Kool Herc at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, where Herc mixed samples of existing records with his own shouts to the crowd and dancers. Kool Herc is credited as the "father" of hip hop. DJ Afrika Bambaataa of the hip hop collective Zulu Nation outlined the pillars of hip hop culture, to which he coined the terms: MCing or "Emceein", DJing or "Deejayin", B-boying and graffiti writing or "Aerosol Writin". [11] Hip hop music first emerged with Kool Herc and contemporary disc jockeys and imitators creating rhythmic beats by looping breaks (small portions of songs emphasizing a percussive pattern) on two turntables. This was later accompanied by "rap", a rhythmic style of chanting or poetry often presented in 16-bar measures or time frames, and beatboxing, a vocal technique mainly used to provide percussive elements of music and various technical effects of hip hop DJs. An original form of dancing and particular styles of dress arose among fans of this new music. These elements experienced considerable adaptation and development over the course of the history of the culture.suburban [11]Hip hop musicdisc jockeysloopingturntablesbeatboxingform

THE ORGIN  In the 1990s, hip hop began to diversify with other regional styles emerging on the national scene, such as Southern rap and Atlanta hip hop. At the same time, hip hop continued to be assimilated into other genres of popular music, an example being Neo soul. Hip hop became a best-selling music genre in the mid-1990s and the top selling music genre by 1999. The popularity of hip hop music continued through the 2000s.

For more information on the music genre, see Hip hop music.articleHip hop music  Rapping (or emceeing, [1] MCing, [1] spitting bars, [2] or rhyming) [3] is "spoken or chanted rhyming lyrics". [4] The components of rapping include "content", "flow" (rhythm and rhyme), and "delivery". [5] Rapping is distinct from spoken word poetry in that it is performed in time to a beat. 11  Rapping is often associated with and a primary ingredient of hip hop music, but the origins of the phenomenon can be said to predate hip hop culture by centuries. It can also be found in alternative rocksuch as that of Cake and the Red Hot Chili Peppership hop musichip hopalternative rockCakeRed Hot Chili Peppers

 Rapping is also used in Kwaito music, a genre that originated in Johannesburg, South Africa and is composed of hip hop elements. Since the early 21st century, it has been possible to hear rap in every major language of the world. Stylistically, rap occupies a gray area between speech, prose, poetry, and singing. The word (meaning originally "to hit") [8] as used to describe quick speech or repartee predates the musical formbeat [8]

GOOD ARTIST  The word had been used in British English since the 16th century, and specifically meaning "to say" since the 18th. It was part of the African American dialect of English in the 1960s meaning "to converse", and very soon after that in its present usage as a term denoting the musical style. [10] Today, the terms "rap" and "rapping" are so closely associated with hip hop music that many use the terms interchangeably.British EnglishAfrican American dialect of English [10]
