Pre-Apprenticeship allows students to observe and participate in daily operations, develop direct contact with job personnel, ask questions about particular careers, and perform certain job tasks. Students will receive training in the following area Caterpillar Production Systems Machine Operation Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC): Safety Human Resources Career Development Students will work part time at Caterpillar facilities in the role of product assembler Students paid $10.10 per hour Paid for time working and for Caterpillar training

These programs help to prepare individuals with the skills required to enter apprenticeable occupations. Partnership with Johnston Community College NC's Career and College Promise (CCP) program at JCC is an educational opportunity for qualified North Carolina high school eleventh and twelfth grade students to get ahead of preparing for their career and/or the completion of college credits. Caterpillar Pre-Apprenticeship Program The Caterpillar Assembly Pre-Apprenticeship program is a year and a half program that prepares students for employment specifically at the Caterpillar plant located in Clayton, North Carolina and at other related industries. Transportation – Getting and maintaining reliable transportation for students to make it to the college and work. Gender diversity within the program. Course selection that would support both Caterpillar’s business need and that are attractive to the student as transferrable to other schools and relate to Caterpillar career paths.
