“Worship the King” Part 1 “What is Jesus Worth?” Matthew 26:1-16

What would you do this week if you knew it was your last week to live?

Jesus ticked off the religious people When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, "As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified."

Jesus ticked off the religious people Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,

Jesus ticked off the religious people and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him. - Matthew 26:3-6 - Matthew 26:3-6

Jesus ticked off the religious people "But not during the Feast," they said, "or there may be a riot among the people."

Jesus was cared for by a friend. While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper,

Jesus was cared for by a friend. a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.

Jesus best friends were ticked off When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."

Jesus had a different perspective Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.

Jesus had a different perspective When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

Jesus had a different perspective I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."

Deuteronomy 15:11 “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.”

One of Jesus friends had enough Then one of the Twelve— the one called Judas Iscariot—went to the chief priests and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?"

One of Jesus friends had enough So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

Bottom Line: Jesus is worth our self- abandoned devotion to Him!

Bottom Line: Living to make much of Jesus will cost us something.

Bottom Line:

Living to make much of Jesus is not about us! –The kingdom of God is not for people who are consumed with self interests.

Bottom Line: Living to that make much of Jesus will tick off some religious people.

Bottom Line: Living to make much of Jesus will require us to have balanced priorities.

Bottom Line: Living to that make much of Jesus is about Jesus not the gift or presenter!
