2  Go to page 609.  Read the passage A Writer’s Model: “What Is a Fan’s Loyalty Worth.”  Identify if it’s argument, informative, or narrative. In a complete sentence!  Explain WHY it’s that style of writing. In a complete sentence!

3  “ What Is a Fan’s Loyalty Worth?” is an argumentative essay. It is an argument essay because it contains an opinion claim, and textual evidence to support that claim.

4  Go to page 551.  Read the passage A Writer’s Model: “Danny’s Surprise.”  Identify if it’s argument, informative, or narrative. In a complete sentence!  Explain WHY it’s that style of writing. In a complete sentence!

5  “Danny’s Surprise” is a narrative because it is a story that includes dialogue, setting, and conflict. The setting in “Danny’s Surprise” takes place during the Fourth of July.

6  Go to page 627.  Read the passage “The Body’s Defenses.”  Identify if it’s argument, informative, or narrative. In a complete sentence!  Explain WHY it’s that style of writing. In a complete sentence!

7  “The Body’s Defenses” is an informative article. It is informative because it contains a main idea, facts, and evidence. The main idea in this article is that it informs us about the “defense system that automatically fights off most of the bacteria and viruses that could harm us.”

8  You will also be asked to look in your book for an example of one of the 3 styles of writing.  Study and be prepared for the assessment (test) on Monday and Tuesday!
