8 REMEMBER ! Some verbs do not normally have a continuous form. Here are the most common examples: be hate have know like love understand With these verbs we use present perfect simple. We say: I’ve k kk known him for 5 years. We don’t say: I’ve been knowing him for 5 years. OR We say: I’ve wanted to buy a car for 2 years. We don’t say: I’ve been wanting to buy a car for 2 years.
