1 Inclusion In Classrooms By Natasha Knights

2 What is Inclusion Inclusion means that all students regardless of their disabilities should be included in a regular classroom. Inclusion gives all students the same educational opportunities. All special education students should be included in a regular classroom. This also includes students that are English Language Learners. These students should be included in a regular classrooms with certain accommodations, such as; extra time, testing in small groups, one-on-one sessions, reading aloud to a student and scribing a student’s response.

3 Advantages Some advantages of including students in regular students are; The students will experience a more complex environment that will help them develop to the best of their ability. It will increase their social skills and self- esteem through interacting with a developing peers.

4 Advantages Inclusion will help students to get a better person within the community if they practice in a normal setting. Students also have a better chance of mastering a specific skill on a normal level. Students will have a better support system because they will have modifications.

5 Disadvantage Some disadvantages of inclusion is the students with disability in a regular classroom setting might have a difficult time keeping up with the pace. The work load might be too condensed for students in the special education department.

6 Disadvantage Regular Education students might be at a disadvantage because the class might not be as challenging enough. Teachers might be spending too much time on one subject area and as a result of that the regular education students might get bored.

7 Conclusion I think students should be included in a regular classroom regardless of their disability, once they have extra support to help them work to the best of their ability. Special students can grow mentally if the expectations are high. Schools should have inclusion in their classrooms
