2 Students are Our Future  Development of a Student Luncheon at Our Annual State Meeting Goal of the Education Committee Chair Provide students a learning session for what happens after I graduate Encourage students to participate in the Local and National Organizations

3 Preparing for Students  Student Registration of $50.00 which included lunch  Student Sputum Bowl Team of 4 for a registration of $100.00  Lunch Sponsored by Kettering Seminars  Secured Presenters for Student Luncheon

4 Student Participation  112 Students Registered  Nine Schools Represented within the State of Ohio  10 Student Sputum Bowl Teams 2 schools sent 2 teams

5 Student Luncheon  Presenters; Timothy Myers, AARC President Craig Black, OSRC President Doug Laher, AARC Management Chair Nancy Colletti, Associate Professor, Kettering College of Medical Arts

6 Student Luncheon  Presentations; Timothy Myers, AARC President  Membership and Leadership within the profession  Interviewing of clinical sites and staff to find the “right fit”  Clinical environment and opportunities  Values and opportunities and leadership within the profession and the hospital administrative structures as RT’s are branching out into other venues

7 Student Luncheon  Presentations; Craig Black  Shared the importance of developing good habits as a student to carry over to the work place once you have graduated.

9 Student Luncheon  Presentations; Doug Laher  Advice for short and long term success  Time Management- need for prioritizing, maintain discipline and to focus  Become a critical thinker- become a test builder and not just a taker. Work through assessment strategies to become independent thinkers  Don’t be afraid to ask questions  Invest in your profession and your own development  Create you own opportunities, through degrees and work ethics  Give unto others what others have given onto you.

10 Student Evaluation  Received 19 completed evaluations All felt topics were informing and will be able to use upon and after graduation Enjoyed the professionalism and interview process topics Would like a conference for students only Casino Night!!

11 Vendors Response  Top 5 Reasons we like to exhibit at the Ohio Society of Respiratory Care meeting:  1) Opportunity to meet with Key Decision Makers outside of the hospital.  2) Opportunity to meet with future Key Decision Makers just starting  their careers as respiratory therapists.  3) Great location- the Hilton at Easton has wonderful restaurants and  shopping all within walking distance.  4) Beautiful hotel and amenities- luxurious hotel and the staff is very  courteous.  5) Easy set up as a vendor.
