2. How do tornados form?
Thunderstorms from in warm, moist air east-moving cold fronts. When these thunderstorms from they may produce hail, strong winds, and tornados.

3. Step by Step
1. A change in wind direction happens before thunderstorms from. The wind speed increases and the height creates a invisible spinning effect in the lower atmosphere.
2. Rising air in the thunderstorm tilts the rotating air from horizontal to vertical.
3. And area of rotation 2-6 miles wide now forms the tornado.

4. When and where do tornados happen?
All the time but mostly during the spring
Mostly along the front range of the Rocky Mountains in “Tornado alley”. But can occur anywhere.

6. How can you prepare for a tornado?
Stay Informed about the storm. Make sure you know where it is going.
Look out for the WATCHES and the WARNINGS.
Have a set place to hide if the storm is close. Make sure your not near any windows.
Make sure you set place is safe and not going to be damaged by the storm. Like a basement or a bathroom.
It’s a good idea to have a radio with you to hear updated about the storm.
