2  Global Nutrition Report: to  Strengthen commitment to national and international targets on nutrition e.g. N4G, SUN, SDGs, etc.  Increase and measure coverage of nutrition programmes  Build multi-sectoral alliances  Source more funding for nutrition action  Identify data gaps that hinder action—and fill them National Advocacy and Communication Strategy: to  Create awareness amongst the population of approaches to achieving proper nutrition. 3  Food and Nutrition Hand Book for Extension Workers: to  Help extension workers and other service providers to understand the link between agriculture, food, nutrition and health. I mproving Nutrition Outcomes through Optimized Agricultural Investment Project: to  Stress the relationship between women and the role they play in nutrition and poverty at household level.  Ensure that agriculture contributes to good nutrition in addition to its current emphasis on increased yields  Increase, in as recommended by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, production of non-staple nutritious foods and make these affordable. 4  Leveraging Food and Nutrition Security through Agricultural Risk Management: to  Propose the integration of Risk Management issues in Policies to improve Farmers’ Livelihoods. Improving Food Security and Reducing Poverty through Intra-Regional Fish Trade: to  Harness the potential of fish and agriculture in nutrition and income generation through research.  Promote the inclusion of fish in diverse diets, increase production (capital, value addition markets and demand) Key Documents Launched cont.. 4

6  I.Investments in Nutrition a)Create enabling policy and legal frameworks at national and local levels for scaling-up of nutrition, emphasizing community participation/mobilization while ensuring sustainability b)Commit more resources to transform school feeding into school nutrition and subsequently achieve global nutrition outcomes c)Prioritize investment in the scale-up of Nutrition-Specific interventions d)Direct investments to existing government-led nutrition interventions e)Call for quick and consistent action to combat the dire consequences of poor nutrition on development Calls To Action 6

Advocacy for Nutrition a)Carry out strong sensitization and promotion of the use of bio-fortified foods, which have demonstrated great impact on improved nutrition b)Increase advocacy for nutrition within the SDG Framework c)Disseminate/activate the Regional Nutrition Strategy Calls To Action cont.. 7

Sustainability of Nutrition Programming a)Promote locally-produced, nutritious foods e.g. maize and sorghum, to stimulate nutrition-focused agriculture, thereby improving food quality and nutrition standards b) Increase investment in mobilising communities and scale- up of evidence-based, community-driven multi-sectoral approaches c)Embed aflatoxin control in nutrition and value chain development projects IV. Coordination and Harnessing Synergies a)Establish a strong and sustainable government–led multi- stakeholder Coordination Mechanism at national and lower levels for better accountability and strengthened community health systems b)Utilize information-sharing/knowledge-management mechanisms and tools available regionally to share best practices and experiences VI. Nutrition Evidence a)Invest in data collection on food and nutrition security to inform programmes development, planning, monitoring, evaluation and implementation b)Embrace documentation of lessons learnt, sharing good practices and tracking progress.
