34 In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) Apologia: to give an explanation or defense. Christian apologetics is a rational, thoughtful defense of the theological tenets of Christianity.

35  Apologetics is a thoughtful, intellectual, analysis of a question of faith or doctrine  Apologetics helps speakers understand the rational basis for their faith and to defend and communicate theological truth to others.  Apologetics may or may not be an evangelistic opportunity

36  Judges should be in agreement with the Stoa Statement of Faith. (copy available at end of slides)  The speaker should craft the speech to the one asking the question whether curious, not in agreement, or Biblically uninformed.

37 Apologetics is a unique event. Content is the essence. The student should:  Use Scripture  Use outside sources For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (NIV, ©2011)

40  There is one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit.  Man is sinful and therefore separated from God, who is holy and perfect.  Jesus Christ paid the eternal penalties for our sin through His death on the cross.  Jesus Christ also resurrected bodily and ascended into heaven and will return one day to fulfill His kingdom.  Only through Jesus Christ and the grace of His provision of salvation, may we be saved from eternal punishment, enter into God’s family and receive eternal life.  The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible and authoritative Word of God and the truth for Christian faith and practice.
