An opportunity for all Federal Employees to improve quality of life for Soldiers, Civilians, Retirees, and their Families through contributions The ONLY authorized DoD solicitation for charitable donations in the Federal workplace Controlled by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Fort Benning Garrison Commander’s staff executes CFC

4 2009 CAMPAIGN RESULTS $1,000,000 Goal $1,109,000 Collected! Local community organizations received $48,000 – less than previous years. That amount is declining 66 th largest campaign out of 226

7 Key Persons are KEY!! The most important thing is having a Key Person who cares about the campaign and what it stands for. It’s helpful to have a good working relationship with the people that you are contacting. Share a personal story about how you or a loved one has been affected by a CFC organization. PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST Event can be promotional or fundraising based If money is being raised, submit using a pledge card to “undesignated” charity – code 99999

11 PLEDGE COLLECTION AND REPORTING PROCESS

12 PAYMENT OPTIONS Payroll deductions encouraged!! –Donors can afford to give more –Easier to give when it’s automatically taken out of paycheck –Payroll deductions start in January, when pay raises begin (Melinda Robba, DHR) One time cash / check donations also accepted

15 IMPERATIVES Payroll deduction must have LEGIBLE – Contributor’s name – Contributor’s SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER – Contributor’s SIGNATURE  ONLY cash or check contributions from Reservists, National Guard, or Contractors

16 IMPERATIVES Encourage donors to designate their pledges! –More than 5 charities can be chosen, write “Continued” on pledge cards and turn in together – with ONE TOTAL –Any undesignated contributions will be shared by all organizations proportionately  ONLY cash or check contributions from Reservists, National Guard, or Contractors

17 KEYPERSON REPORT Electronic version will be emailed and printed copy is in your folder for copying Electronic fill-in ensures legible entries of names and numbers

18 IMPORTANT NEW: Payroll deduction OR cash columns Have your pledge cards in the same order as names listed on Keyperson’s report sheet  ONLY cash or check contributions from Reservists, National Guard, or Contractors

20 IMPORTANT Do not hold money – turn-in continuously Count your money – amounts must match

21 IMPORTANT Three copies of the pledge card –White and yellow copies are turned in to CFC office in batch envelopes –Pink copy is torn off and kept by the donor as a receipt and record of donation Keep your own records of turn-ins: receipts will be given for all batches Pledge cards that will be turned away: –No signature –Missing or illegible Social Security # –Any other illegible part

23 INCENTIVE GIFTS Pens: $100 - $239 CFC Personal Coolers/Lunchbags: $240 - $499 Eagle: $500 + Pens and bags will be issued immediately Key Person will be called to pick up Eagles Please distribute to donors ASAP

24 CFC 101 Meet with CFC staff – develop timeline Coordinate any events Make the “ask” Follow up on stragglers Compile pledge cards into cash or payroll deductions Write up Keyperson Reports Tally reports for Batch Envelopes Call CFC office for turn-in appointment Turn in pledges, get receipt Keep your own turn-in records! Distribute incentive gifts, thank donors JOB WELL DONE!
