3. Department of Immigration and Border Protection The National Transition Strategy (NTS) –Released in 2010 –Mandated that all government websites/web applications conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) Level AA by December 2014 –Consisted of 3 phases The NTS 3

4. Department of Immigration and Border Protection Phase 1: Preparation –Agencies determined their readiness to undergo WCAG 2.0 transition and implementation. Phase 2: Transition –Agencies acquired skills to underpin implementation of WCAG 2.0. Phase 3: Implementation –Agencies developed an implementation plan to make web accessibility BAU. 3 phases of the NTS 4

Role-based training Scheduled Word/PDF training sessions. Web Accessibility Toolbar training available and on demand. Standards integration UI Design Guidelines with accessibility considerations. Policy instructions WCAG 2.0 conformance approach; Use of alternate formats; Accessible procurement (web related goods and services); Accessibility request and complaints handling process.
