4 College Level Expectations Your professors expect for you to … Come to class prepared –Read any assignments or review materials to be used for class before each lecture –For Term 1 and Term 2 courses, you may have reading assignments due before the first day. Check with your instructor.

6 Academic Success Tips Make Academics a Priority Go To Class! –So much of your success will be dependent upon class attendance. Even if the professor is not taking roll, they are aware of whether or not you are there

9 Tips for Academic Success Read the Class Syllabus Your syllabus is one of the most important documents your instructor will give you. It outlines due dates, methods of instruction, behavior, assignments and class expectations. This is your guide as to how you can attain success in the course. Read it! Read it!

10 Tips for Academic Success Flat Tire or Sick Child? –If an emergency arises and you must miss class you should Inform the professor beforehand via voicemail or email. Let them know your situation Get the notes that you missed from a classmate You may also want to visit the professor during office hours

11 Tips for Academic Success Take Notes –Read -over your assigned reading material before class –Listen -during lecture listen for key words, phrases, or a change in body language –Summarize-write down the professors words in your own words –Rewrite-your notes after class

12 Tips for Academic Success Study- You should spend 2 hours studying for every hour that you spend in lecture. Stay organized –Pick up a planner and use it to schedule time for work, studying, and other activities –Work “backwards”. Mark important dates and due dates on your calendar. Work actively to meet those deadlines (ex)
