2. WHY INVESTIGATE CAREERS?  You spend more than a ¼ of your life at work.  This choice should be made considering MANY things. A few are:  Your Personality  Your Interests  Your Skills  Your Values

3. KUDER NAVIGATOR  We have an online system, Kuder, that can help you learn about yourself, build an education plan and explore and prepare for various career or educational options after high school.  This online system (Kuder) is accessible anywhere – even after you graduate!  Kuder consists of six main sections  Learn About Myself  Explore Occupations  Plan for Education  Plan for Work  Find a Job  My Portfolio  You can use Kuder as much or as little as you like. We will not have time to investigate all parts of Kuder during Advisory but will do our best.

4. CAREER VOCABULARY  Job Outlook means the prospect of a future job. It may refer to an individual’s chance of getting a job for the future of a certain career.  Employment Growth refers to the number of jobs available in the future.  Benefits refer to “perks” you receive beyond your salary. Benefits may include health, vision, dental and/or life insurance as well as paid vacation and sick leave, gym memberships, company discounts, etc.  Retirement/Pension Fund is money you and/or your employer contribute to on a regular basis for your retirement years. You will be able to access this money once you reach retirement age. These funds replace your paychecks.

5. WEEK ONE  Now you are ready to go to your advisor’s computer individually to create a log-in and password. You will write that information on your form (Kuder Navigator – Career Planning System).  While you are waiting your turn, you will complete the questionnaire provided by your teacher (Lifestyle Considerations).  Once these two things are finished you will be ready to go to the computer lab!
