3 Out of the Forum – a Partnership The Data Futures Forum produced a set of recommended principles which were endorsed by Cabinet: Value – New Zealand should use data to create social and economic value Inclusion – All New Zealanders should be able to benefit Trust – The way data is managed should build trust in institutions Control – Individuals should have greater control over data about them In February 2015 Cabinet endorsed these principles, and in August 2015 decided to establish the Data Futures Partnership as a cross-sector group of influential people to work together to drive high-trust and high-value data use, to the benefit of all New Zealanders.

4 What is the Partnership? The Data Futures Partnership is a publically funded, independent group that is helping lead the development of New Zealand’s data-use system.
