4. John 17:6-19 John 17:17 Sanctified by the Truth, (Word of God.)

5. John 17:17, “Sanctify them in the sphere of Your Truth; Your Word (Bible Doctrine) is Truth.”

6. Principles of Bible Doctrine as the “Truth.”

7. John 18:37-38. Pilate said to Jesus, “What is truth?”

8. Psa 89:14, “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Lovingkindness and truth go before You.”

9. 1. God is absolute truth - veracity. ALETHEIA, “truth, truthfulness or reality.”

10. Joseph Thayer, “that which frees the mind from pretending, deceitfulness and hypocrisy.”

11. Truth, “Conformity to knowledge, fact, reality, actuality, or logic.

12. God is called “the God of truth” in Psa 31:5; Isa 65:16, and His Word is true in all its parts.

13. Psa 12:6, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.”

14. 2. God is faithful to every word He has said.

15. Num 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent; has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

16. Heb 10:23, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”

17. The faithfulness of God is the unfailing source of comfort and assurance to those who are right with Him.

18. 3. John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life”, Jesus revealed His Deity, and His character and nature in Deity and humanity.

19. The Bible is called the “mind of Christ”, 1 Cor 2:16, which is absolute truth, 2 Cor 6:7.

20. Truth is that which the Lord brought with Him when He came down from heaven.

21. John 1:17, “For the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

22. John 18:37, “… for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth.”

23. James 1:18, “In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth.”

24. 4. It is only as God brings us to a knowledge of the “truth” that He can deliver us completely from our three enemies; ourselves (OSN), the Cosmic System, and Satan. Eph 1:13-14

25. 5. In the O.T. “truth” is EMETH, “stability, certainty and trustworthiness.”

26. If you lack faithfulness, stability and security it is usually because you lack truth (i.e., Bible Doctrine in your soul).

27. How do I know if I am learning “truth” or receiving truth?

28. How do I know if I am learning “truth” or receiving truth? Truth will cause you to be stable, certain and sure.

29. Prov 23:23, “Buy truth, and do not sell it, also buy wisdom and instruction and understanding.”

30. 1 Peter 1:22, “Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, 23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.”

31. Psa 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

32. Col 1:23, “If indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven….”

33. 6. Truth is something we must be taught. It does not come naturally.

34. Psa 25:5, “Lead me in Your truth and teach me: for You are the God of my deliverance.”

35. John 8:31-32, “If you continue in My Word then are you My disciples indeed. And you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.”

36. 7. Truth is something that must be taught. Isa 38:19; Mat 22:16; 1 Tim 2:4

37. 8. God desires truth to be within us. 2 Cor 11:10, “As the truth of Christ is in me….”

38. Without truth it is impossible to worship God properly. John 4:23-24, “Worship in spirit and truth.”

39. If a pastor really loves and worships the Lord he will: 2 Tim 2:15, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.”

40. 1 Tim 2:7, “For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.”

41. And He will feed the flock of God. 2 Cor 13:7-8; Col 1:5-7 John 21:15-17, “If you love Me, feed My sheep, etc...” Feed them what? Truth.
