1 Peerceptiv Fahrenheit 451 Essay Prompt

2 Prompt Fahrenheit 451 explores the idea of a man turning his back on society to pursue what he thinks is right. Montag’s society is clearly corrupt and lost, so we know that we are supposed to root for him, and we see heroes like him throughout fiction- Katniss from The Hunger Games, Jonah from The Giver, Neo from The Matrix, and many others share the same trait of standing up against an oppressive society, and we never have any trouble identifying these characters as the heroes. In reality, though, things are rarely so cut and dry. Sometimes we celebrate rebels like Montag as brave heroes, but just as often when we see such rebels on the news, we view them as troublemakers, criminals, or worse. Is it generally noble to fight back against a society you disagree with, or does this tend more often to just create more problems? In a well-written essay, present and support your argument to this question.

3 Requirements: Response must be at least 600 words long Response must introduce and present a clear, strong thesis statement Response must connect each body paragraph to the introduction with a clear, strong topic sentence Response must include at least four specific examples from the texts and current events (suggestion 1 example from text connected with one current event per paragraph) Response must incorporate your examples effectively into your argument (transitional statements to lead into your quote and strong commentary after)
