EBSCOadmin Overview Tutorial support.ebsco.com

EBSCOadmin is a powerful administrative platform that offers a wealth of options for customizing your EBSCO services. From branding your site with your institution’s colors and logos to controlling the content that is added to your EDS profile, this tutorial will give you a basic overview of what you can achieve using EBSCOadmin.

Using EBSCOadmin to brand your EBSCO interface is easy. Custom branding your site to include familiar logos and colors allows you to create a seamless experience for your users. Depending on the service being customized, you can include important links to additional services in the top toolbar or below the search box.

In just a few simple steps, you can make it easy for users to identify the interface as part of your institution’s resources.

With many options available to customize your search results and display preferences, you may want to spend some time reviewing the settings available, which vary by profile. For example, you can choose to make the Advanced Search your default searching screen so that users see all of the limiters available before they start their search.

For EDS or EBSCOhost users, you can offer the ability to automatically translate the interface by enabling the translation feature in EBSCOadmin.

To take advantage of this option, click the Multilingual Options tab and modify your settings accordingly. Click Submit to save your changes.

To ensure seamless access for your users, flexible authentication options are available including User ID and password, IP recognition, and library card pattern matching. With so many options, you can control access to resources in the way that best fits your institution’s needs.

In EBSCOadmin, you can control the content that you make available to your EDS or EBSCOhost profile. For example, you can choose to enable or disable certain databases from appearing in search results, or elect to automatically enable new partner content that becomes available to EDS customers.

In addition, the Local Collections feature helps you create and manage your locally held collections, such as your library’s print holdings or your non-EBSCO resources, so that they, too, can be discovered through your EBSCO interface.

To assist you with reporting usage, EBSCO offers usage statistics, including Counter Reports. Understanding the number of full text or abstract requests in a given time period is important in determining whether your library is experiencing a healthy return on its e-resources investment.

Finally, account security is very important so EBSCOadmin provides the flexibility to control administrative access, such as who on your staff can make profile changes or view usage statistics. You can create Usernames and Passwords and assign specific roles so that staff members never need to share an account.

You can modify these permissions at anytime. Simply click Go under the Roles column, make your selections, and click Submit.

This is just an overview of the options available for you to customize your EBSCO experience. For more information, or to begin taking advantage of the flexible options available, contact Customer Support or visit the EBSCO Support Site.
