Habitually Befuddled Statements By Ali
Some words in German are stupid because they make no sense but you have to learn them anyways.
Klappen Klappe Klappen means to flap or strike together. Most frequently, however, it means to work out well, click. Alles klappte gut means everything went off well. Klappe means lid or trap. The expression zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe schlagen means to kill two birds with one stone. Beifall klatschen means to applaud.
Kontrollieren In addition to control, this word also means to check or inspect.
Lachen Lache This is a verbal noun meaning laughter. Do not confuse it with die Lache, which means pool or puddle.
Last Dauern, Währen This means load or burden. To last is dauern, Währen. A shoemakers last is Leisten.
Leier Lügner This means lyre Music. A liar is Lügner.
List Verzeichnis, Liste This means cunning. Verzeichnis, Liste means list.
