1 Bell Ringer A bag contains 6 red marbles, 5 blue marbles, 3 green marbles, and 1 yellow marble. 1. What is the probability that a marble chosen at random will be blue? 2. What is the probability that a marble chosen at random will be yellow? 3. What is the probability that a marble chosen at random will not be red? 4. If a marble is pulled and replaced 100 times, how many red marbles can we expect to get? 5. Calculate the mode. 6. Calculate the range.

4 Quiz Line segment d is a diagonal in each polygon shown below. Which drawing shows enough information to find the length of line segment d? 4

5 Which drawing can be used to find the length of the diagonal?
Line segment d is a diagonal in each polygon shown below. Which drawing shows enough information to find the length of line segment d? Diagonal Hypotenuse Location of d in each choice Which drawing can be used to find the length of the diagonal? I know that diagonals are associated with a hypotenuse. In order to solve for a hypotenuse, there must be a right triangle. I analyzed each drawing to see which one has a diagonal with a right triangle. Diagonals = Hypotenuse To find the hypotenuse, the Pythagorean Theorem can be Used. To use the Theorem, there must Be a right triangle. Drawing H can be used to find the length of the diagonal. Drawing H has the diagonal with a Right triangle. 5 5

6 Speed Test 1. Get out a dry erase marker.
2. You have 1 minute to complete as many problems as you can. We will grade in 1 minute. 4. Graph your results. Keep the graph in your notebook. 5. We will do this every day. 6

7 Problem of the Week & Word Problem
# You have 5 minutes to work on the problem of the week and word problem. 2. The problem of the week must follow the Read, Think, Solve, Justify format. 3. When you are finished, turn them in. 4. They are due Friday. 7

8 Reach for the Stars Thursday
A ladder that is 13 feet long leans against a building. The bottom of the ladder is 5 feet away from the base of the building. How far up the side of the building does the ladder reach? 18 ft 16 ft 12 ft 8 ft

9 Class Work: Probability
You need your notes. Title the notes: Probability I will check your work at the end of class. 9

10 Probability I have 4 red marbles, 2 blue marbles, 5 yellow marbles, and 3 green marbles in one bag. You will draw one at a time. What is the probability of drawing two blue marbles (After drawing, replace the marble back in the bag)

11 Probability I have 4 red marbles, 2 blue marbles, 5 yellow marbles, and 3 green marbles in one bag. You will draw one at a time. 2. What is the probability of drawing two blue marbles (After drawing, do not replace the marble back in the bag)

12 Probability Y G R R R B quarter G Y
What is P(flipping a tail and not spinning R)? Y G R R R B quarter G Y

13 16 52 42 7 16 7 3 7 42 4 1. What is P(two digit number and star)?
2. What is the probability that you will not draw an odd number and not draw an arrow? 7 3 7 42 4

14 Guess that Price!!!! Winning a Car: Price of car: # 1-6
You are going to roll the die 5 times. After you roll, you will be told if the number you rolled is the # in the price of a car. If it is not, you must decide if the next number is higher or lower. Roll 1: What is the P(price > #)? Roll 2: What is the P(price > #)? Roll 3 What is the P(price < #)? Roll 4 What is the P(price < #)? Roll 5 What is the P(price < #)? Write your answers on your paper.

15 Deal or No Deal? As a group, you will choose a briefcase.
We will go through the game. Each time the banker makes a deal, we will answer these probability questions: What is the P(our $ in case > banker’s offer)? What is the P(our $ in case < banker’s offer)? You will write your answers on a sheet of paper. The paper is due by the end of class. 15
