2 It’s not always easy to design. We are going to look at a range of tasks that hopefully will help you in the future. We call these tasks, design strategies. These strategies can be helpful when you are designing any product. We are going to look at the following design strategy : inspiration from around us. Design Strategies: inspiration from around us

3 When developing your cartoon character, you can take advantage of the characteristics of a person, an animal or an object that you have chosen as your inspiration. The next few slides show you how you can develop ideas from things around you. Cheeky animals are good inspirational ideas for you Design Strategies: inspiration from around us

4 Designers very often get ideas from being inspired by things they look at. They may visit exhibitions, museums, look at books or magazines or even the environment and people around them. Or the designers themselves may be the source of inspiration !

8 Design Strategies: inspiration from around us Expressions Expressions are important when developing your character, it’s what gives your character ….well …..character. Expressions can be manipulate by the way we style our cartoons. Here are some ways we can develop our characters.

14 The dog has been drawn in both styles, to look realistic and a cartoon style. You will need to consider what style you want when developing you cartoon?
