4 Allegory A story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.

5 The Boy and the Cashews A BOY put his hand into a pitcher full of cashews. He grasped as many as he could possibly hold, but when he tried to pull out his hand, he was prevented from doing so by the neck of the pitcher. Unwilling to lose his cashews, and yet unable to withdraw his hand, he burst into tears and bitterly lamented his disappointment.

6 The Father and His Two Daughters A man had two daughters, whom he loved both the same. The man went to the daughter who had married a gardener, and asked how she was. She said, "I have only one wish, that there may be a heavy fall of rain, in order that the plants may be well watered." Not long after, he went to the daughter who had married a tile-maker, and asked her how she was. She replied, "I have only one wish, that the dry weather may continue, and the sun shine hot and bright, so that the bricks might be dried." The man said, “What should I wish for?”
