HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 National Grid Service Steven Young National Grid Service Manager Oxford e-Research Centre University of Oxford

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 NGS NGS Core Sites: –STFC RAL, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford NGS-1 Clusters: Procurement Oct 2003, additional year of support to Oct 2007. Totals (across 4 sites): 336 CPUs (Intel Xeon 3GHz), 1-2Gb per CPU, 40Tb NGS-2 Clusters: Procurement Oct 2006, staggered delivery, now all delivered (as of Mar 2007. Totals (across 4 sites): ~1024 cores (AMD Opteron), 2Gb per core, ~100Tb storage

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Joining the NGS NGS Joining Process –We don’t require LCG/gLite, allow various arch. –Don’t have or maintain a software distribution –NGS Software Stack: Globus CE, GridFTP, IGTF CAs, GLUE schema, NGS approved VOs, RUS accounting –gsissh (Level 1), SRB (Level 2) GridPP site joining: Imperial, Glasgow –Minor issue with direct Globus submission without a specified queue.

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Other current and prospective sites HPCx and HECToR RAL SCARF Other services: Portals (Westminster), GridSAM (Belfast) Windows backend resources (So’ton CCS cluster, Cardiff Windows Condor pool) Visualization resources (UCL Prism, Manchester Prism) SRIF3 sites, ECDF, Sun Microsystems Data services: MIMAS, EDINA

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Further Developments NGS RB for ngs.ac.uk VO –gLite WMS –YAIM Issue with DNS based VO SRM is planned to be part of the NGS Software Stack. (Supporting both grid storage ‘islands’) What about NGS sites supporting GridPP VOs?

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 NGS-GridPP Interoperability Talk Outline –Information System –Authentication and Authorization –Resource Broker –VOs –Situation now

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Information System NGS using BDII since 2005 Schemas: GLUE 1.2 + MDS Standard GLUE information provider from EDG Static tags signifying software stack (now also individual software plus versioning info)

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 User AuthN/AuthZ grid-mapfiles populated by edg-mkgridmap initially VO/Auth LDAP server now VOMS deployed –change to grid-mapfile updating –new VO based approach

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Resource Broker gLite WMS+UI 3.0 deployed March 2007 –issues with non gLite WNs –BDII changed to include GridPP nodes, alowing for NGS/GridPP interoperation evaluating Gridway metascheduler

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Virtual Organizations Catchall “ngs.ac.uk” VO created New NGS VOs imminent GridPP accepts “ngs” – YAIM limitation “DTEAM” + “OPS” VOs accepted by all core NGS nodes NGS ready to accept applications for other GridPP VOs

HEP SYSMAN 23 May 2007 Grid Interop. Now No outstanding technical problems Interoperation now possible for any DTEAM members “ngs” -> “ngs.ac.uk” change needed by GridPP GridPP VOs can apply for NGS access
