13 Dr. Paul Joe Environment Canada Atmospheric Science and Technology Branch/Meteorological Research Directorate Cloud Physics and Severe Weather Section I am a research scientist with expertise in Doppler Weather Radar and Severe Weather. I have published papers that range from signal processing, weather radar, nowcasting and in severe weather. I was one of leads of the WWRP Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008,Vancouver 2010 Nowcasting Projects and the scientific lead for the Canadian National Radar Project developing the CARDS radar processing software and also for the NinJo workstation project. I am on several WMO Committees including chairing the Nowcasting Working Group and a member of the CIMO Expert Team on Upper Air and Remote Sensing. I organized several radar training workshops in Brazil and in South Africa and participated in radar workshops in Cairns and Turkey. I am the principal investigator for the Polar Precipitation Mission which proposes to put a radar in space to measure snowfall at high latitudes. I like to have fun by skiing powder but I hate to lose skis. I love to play golf but I am not very good at it. I live in Toronto but I also have an office in Vancouver. Begin at 09 local time.

24 Please consider The exercises / homwork, quizzes are very important –We will monitor in to what extend you are dealing with the quizzes / exercises, certificates if  at least 50% of your answers/results are okay (online students)  Additionally for full students: How you deal with exercises/group work and with a short questionnaire at the end of the seminar  On the other hand: Please do not worry. We will not bee too strict. –if you have problems please ask the responsible teacher or use the students forum → input for the classroom phase → Most benefit for all of you –The NEWS forum is only for announcing information of general interest, e.g., availability of material, changes of the schedule, general technical problems –System check!
