4 About Me… My Husband Shad Our Puppy Missy B.A. in French and Psychology from UNT Married for 1 year Lived and studied in Caen, Normandy Much of my family is of French origin and I was able to visit the city from which my family immigrated in the 1600s.

6 Why French? Second most learned language in the world. France is the 5 th most powerful economy in the world with dozens of companies stationed in the DFW area and around the country. French is one of the six official languages of the UN. Roughly 20% of the English language comes from French thanks to Guillaume le Conquerant.

7 What is International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (IB- MYP) ? The MYP is: For students aged 11 to 16 A framework of academic challenge 8 subject groups, plus personal project in the final year. At CMS kids choose French or Spanish Taught in any language Includes a community service requirement

11 Classroom Supplies Needed This Year: 3-ring binder (or divider for this class) Pencils and black/blue pens Notebook paper Spiral notebook Supplies for masque project (end of year)

12 My grading and homework policy Grade Distribution: 25% - Quizzes 25% - Binder/Projects 40% - Oral Participation 10% - Homework and Classwork* *Students are allowed to turn in late work until the fifth week of the six weeks. Rule also applies for make-up quizzes. Make-up quizzes are only given before and after school.
