10 Financial Aid: Is it an Option? We like to say there are three types of aid: Need Family income, assets, number in college Other factors Merit Grades, GPA, Class Rank, ECA’s Revenue based Income/Discount Think of it as more than need based aid

11 Financial aid forms FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid Federal Methodology (FM) CSS PROFILE Form - Institutional Methodology (IM) o Many private schools want this form in addition to the FAFSA. o Includes home equity, more detailed explanation of income, assets and expenses. o MUST be consistent with FAFSA or will trigger an audit or verification. o There are 12 Sections and approximately 250 questions o Not easy to understand or fill out Consensus Methodology (CM) – 568 Presidents Club Other Forms – scholarship, housing, school specific aid forms, if you own a business, Non custodial parent form
