2  For now, sit anywhere you would like.  Keep in mind that I will be making changes to the seating chart over the next few weeks.  If you like where you are sitting, make sure I don’t have a reason to move you.

5  50% of your grade will be from classwork, labs, quizzes and projects.  50% of your grade will be from tests.

6  Rules and consequences are posted at the front of the room in case you forget.

7  At the end of each 9 weeks, I award a party to one class.  The class will be determined by: › Best behaved › Work turned in › Tardies › Participation › Other determined by Mrs. Dolan

8  Composition Notebook  Colored Pencils  Self-contained pencil sharpener  Pencils and Paper  Pencil Pouch for binder

9  I will give you a classroom number. Please write it down.  This will be the number you use for: › Clicker tests › Materials › Homework assignments › Tests

11  Be in your assigned seat and working on the assigned bellwork when the tardy bell rings. › Bellwork will be on the Promethean Board or written on the whiteboard. › Bellwork should be written on notebook paper and will be turned in at the end of each week. › Question and answer should be written.

12  Have all materials for class ready when the tardy bell rings. › Book, science notebook, pencil, paper, etc. › You WILL NOT be allowed to go to your locker after the tardy bell. › You WILL NOT be allowed to go to the restroom after the tardy bell.

13  Follow all directions the first time they are given.  Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.

14  Follow all procedures and policies of the class and of Harris Middle School as outlined in your agenda.  Have integrity!!!!!!!!!! › Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty

15  This classroom is a “ NO WHINING ZONE ”.  That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason.  Everything I do is in your best interest, so please… respect the “NO WHINING ZONE”

16  1 st – Warning and documentation  2 nd – Parent Contact/Action Plan  3 rd – Parent Contact/Lunch Detention  4th – Disciplinary Referral.

Failure to return a signed Action Plan the following day will result in a parent conference and lunch detention.

18  Verbal Acknowledgement  A stress free learning environment.  A pleasant and orderly classroom atmosphere.  Good phone call or note home.  Class party.

19  Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other classmates), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the office IMMEDIATELY.

21  Do not enter the classroom until you are invited in.  Please enter quietly.  Have a seat.  Begin the bellwork.

22  When you enter this classroom, all horseplay and loud talking STOPS!!!  You need to begin working when you enter the room.  The first one into the room should get the period bin with notebooks and hand them out as students enter the room.  If you are fooling around in the room, you will be asked to leave and may be tardy.

23  All papers turned in should include: › Full name › Period › Date › Assignment › Number Kim Dolan 1 st Period 8/10/11 #1 Assignment Name

24  Enter quietly.  Excused: Place the excused slip on my desk. Have a seat and begin working.  Unexcused: Fill out a tardy slip and place in the basket on my desk. Have a seat and begin working.

25  If you are absent, please see me to see what you missed.  All lectures are posted on the class website.  Assignments, quizzes, etc. can be made up.

26  If you are absent, give your note to your first period teacher to send to the office.  They will sign your agenda.  Show this to your teachers to show that you are excused.

27  What do I do next? › Look over chapter in book. › Review notes for quizzes or tests. › Review vocabulary words. › Read a book. › Work on other class work.

28  If you are called to check out… › Make sure you have finished the day’s assignment or take home to finish. › Gather your things quietly. › Leave the room quietly.

29  One person at each table should collect the papers. › This should change often.  One person will be assigned to collect all the papers and place them in the period bin.

30  PLEASE participate.  I want to hear what you have to say.

31  You must ask permission.  Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency. › This means going to the trash can and pencil sharpener.

32  The teacher dismisses you, not the bell.  Do not start packing up until the bell rings.  Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with: “Have a nice day!”

33  If the principal makes an announcement during class, you are to immediately get quiet and listen for instructions.  If the intercom beeps, stop talking immediately.

34  Going to the library/computer lab  Going to lunch › Walk in a straight line, quietly down the hall.  Laptop Carts › No horseplay. You must have an internet form on file in the library.  Special Guests › If we have a visitor in the classroom, be respectful.  Assemblies › If you owe work to me or other teachers, you will not be attending assemblies.  Substitute Teacher › Any notes describing bad behavior from a sub will result in detention.  Fire Drill › We go outside through the lab. The first to the doors should hold the doors for the rest of the class. Also, please turn off lights if you are close to them as you walk by.  Tornado Drill › Our place is along the wall in the rotunda, opposite the snack machines. › During all emergency drills, remain calm and quiet so you can hear instructions.
