Fiction Fiction Books are not true-- these are stories that someone has made up. We can find fiction books tucked away in their on private section within the Media Center.

Fiction Books Fiction books DO have Dewey Call numbers—books by American authors all have the Dewey number 810—but there are so many, we leave that off and they are shelved with call numbers Fic and the first three letters of the author’s name.

Non-Fiction Non-fiction Books are true--these are real stories or informational books. We can find non-fiction books in the Dewey section of our library. Not EVERY book in the Dewey section is non-fiction. Fairy tales are fiction.

THE DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM Using the sections in the media center suggested by the teacher, name the 10 groups that are used to classify non-fiction books in a library. 000-099_____________________________________________________ 100-199_____________________________________________________ 200-299______________________________________________________ 300-399______________________________________________________ 400-499______________________________________________________ 500-599______________________________________________________ 600-699_______________________________________________________ 700-799_______________________________________________________ 800-899_______________________________________________________ 900-999_______________________________________________________ A non-fiction book that I have found is entitled ______________________. It would be classified with the call number

So….if you know the Dewey Decimal System you can…. Find books to help you with research Find books about things you think are fun! Find books for your hobbies And even get better grades…
