3 HYOID BONE U –shaped bone Under mandible and above larynx Only bone not forming a joint (touching another bone)

4 STERNUM Breastbone Where ribs connect 3 parts - manubrium - body - xiphoid process

6 RIBS (12 pair / 24) 1.TRUE RIBS (7 pr) * attach directly to the sternum by costal cartilage (flexible for breathing) 2.FALSE RIBS (5 pr) * do not attach to sternum directly Floating – last 2 pair Do not attach to sternum at all
