3 The Converse Relationship The converse of a standard-form categorical statement is formed simply by interchanging its subject and predicate terms Mathematically if A=B then B=A Logically only works for E and I Example: Some trees are plants SO Some plants are trees

4 ContraPosition Occurs when a positive is replaced by negation and the predicate and subject are flipped. ~A=~A or ~I=~I Example: All Cat are mammals therefore All nonmammals are noncats
