2 Service Levels Basic Service for all 61 school Districts Extended Service for SASI & Pentamation Clients Other Districts –Consulting / Project Services (based on an individual districts requirements).

3 STEP Basic Service Conduct Training for District STEP personnel on the new version of the software. Provide Telephone Support on the STEP Software Disseminate updates and changes from SED via e-mail Upon receiving the following: –Signed Superintendents STEP Certification. –Step File in official File layout (latest version of STEP). –The LHRIC will: Conduct a virus check on the file. Process the data through SED verification steps. Run Cohort Reports FAX to district a copy of the LHRIC work sheet reflecting STEP data counts. Encrypt the data to ensure confidentiality. Electronically transmit the data to SED using established File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Processing. –Verify receipt by SED of the correct number of records. –Notify each district that the data was sent and received. –Archive each district’s data for future retrieval.

4 STEP Extended Service Create the fields and tables necessary for the data entry by district personnel in the (SMS) Student Management System Write queries for data verification in the SMS Write queries for data extraction from the SMS Run data verification queries in SMS Run queries for data extract from SMS Process data using MS Access DB for data manipulation into STEP format Import data into STEP Software and run Import Verification Reports Forward to district STEP software complete with data for any additions or corrections Assist the district in error checking the data in STEP prior to the district running Final Verification reports Receive and review exported STEP file Send final STEP files to SED

6 Students who must be reported in STEP in 2002–03 All students the district/school reported in STEP 2001–02 All students enrolled the High School during the 2002–03 school year All students below grade 09 who took a Regents or Second Language Proficiency exam should be reported in the school they attend All students who dropped out of school between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2003, including students who were below grade 9 Who Gets Reported in 2003?

7 What Gets Reported in 2003? The following assessments, including multiple administrations of the same examination title All Regents Examinations All Component Re-tests All RCT’s All Second Language Proficiency All Introduction to Occupations The NYSAA - New York State Alternate Assessments The NYSESLAT - New York State English As a Second Language Achievement Tests (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) Approved Alternatives to Department Assessments.

8 New Program Service Records NEW: School choice (if reporting district is included in Schools in Need of Improvement in 2002–03) NEW: Supplemental Services under NCLB (if reporting school was in need of improvement under Title I in 2002–03 and was required to provide supplemental services) NEW: Homeless (if applicable to the student) NEW: Walk-in enrollment code for students who have been administered an examination in a school in which they are not enrolled. This applies only to students who have dropped out and are not enrolled in any school.
