September 2013 Updates

In the beginning of September Barak flew to Israel for a month to spend time and assist with care for his mother, who was diagnosed with stage 3 Esophageal cancer in August. The girls made her “get well” cards.

In September my dad turned 70 years old, so Barak also carried presents and cards for him.

I was left alone for a month with the girls, but we got a lot of help from fantastic people. The neighbours in the strata have been fantastic, lending a hand when needed (especially Jim from unit 3), and we had many friends from all over the city check on us regularly, offering help or support. We had a lovely visit from our friend Debbie, who now lives in Melbourne, but was in Sydney for a yoga weekend retreat.

The most help we got from Hanna and Miguel, who virtually adopted us. Hanna took care of the girls on the two Saturdays that I needed to work in the gallery, while Adrian was at a drama class, and then insisted we stay for lunch. Here they are enjoying a kit that teaches how to make electrical circuits. Hahgoot was a bit stressed at first, but liked it.

She even enjoyed making up her own electrical experiments! In the late afternoon Hanna brought us back home. Adrian was still happy to bounce around but the girls were flat out...

On the Sunday we were invited back for dinner, prepared by Miguel, who makes absolutely magnificent dishes. The girls kept busy with Hanna and Adrian inside and outside until food was ready. We also had the company of Miguel’s dad.

Adrian is wearing the T-shirt I bought him for his birthday. It has a guitar on it that really plays music! It is ultra cool – you can really play on it whatever you like, it has a battery operated amplifier (on his belt) and it is the essential dress-up item for the budding rock star! I ordered his T-shirt from this fantastic website: ThinkGeekThinkGeek Press the link to read more about this fun T-shirt and see other great products!

The following Saturday we were invited again to stay for lunch and even dinner – they are truly a fantastic family!

In our next presentation: Barak enjoys Father’s Day with us before his flight to Israel and other news
