5 Google Calls Microsoft Out Google ended up losing the bids to Microsoft & Apple. Google calls Microsoft a patent troll, and ends up buying Motorola for 12.5 million, mainly to get enough patents to fight back.

6 Nortel Networks Microsoft teams up with 5 other companies and buys 6,000 patents and patent applications from Nortel for 4.5 Billion. Apple, Sony, EMC, RIM, and Ericsson.
