God is the just Judge – Gen.18:25 1. Our longing for justice - we want to see justice - we cry to God for justice “Why don’t you do something” – Ps.7:6; Hab.1:2-4 “How long…” - Rev.6:9,10

2. The need for justice There is so much injustice in our world:- - people killed - lives destroyed - people losing possessions, reputations etc

3. Is there a just judge? a. Can’t be bribed – Dt.10:17,18 b. Loves justice – Ps.11:7; 99:4 c. Committed to the weak – Dt.10:17-19 d. Has all the facts – Ps.139:1,2,7 e. Has the authority/power – Ps.9:7-9; 10:16-18 Having such a judge means we don’t have to take revenge – Rom.12:19-21

4. Guilty but forgiven We are all guilty – Rom.3:19,20. Our hope is in God’s character – merciful & gracious a. The flood – Gen.6:5-7. God provided the ark of salvation b. The Exodus – Ex.11,12. God provided the Passover Lamb c. The Cross a. God is committed to justice b. God has provided a way of escape

5. THEREFORE a. Let’s celebrate the justice of God b. Let’s pray & work for justice c. Let’s make sure we have taken hold of God’s mercy & grace in Jesus
