9 Effective Accountability Plans Implemented with fidelity and integrated fully with other district initiatives, these efforts could positively impact student achievement. These three initiatives, in particular, could potentially assist districts in their efforts to address low student achievement, poor graduation rates, and high drop-out rates The Division of Special Education, working in collaboration with the other Divisions of DESE and the local RPDC, supports districts in their improvement efforts Special Education Positive Behavior Support PBS Proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. Post-Secondary Transition Initiative Assist with applications and interviews, working with business and community agencies, School Improvement Grants (Three-Tiered models of Intervention Implementation of evidence-based practices and three- tiered Models of Intervention

11 High Schools That Work is an effort-based (opposed to a talent-based) model of school improvement centered on 10 Key Practices High Expectations Challenging Career/Technical Studies College-prep Curriculum Academic Core and a Concentration Work-based Learning Integration of Academic and Career/Technical Studies Active Engagement Guidance and Advisement Extra Help Data-based Decision Making

14 Missouri had the foresight to develop nine Regional Professional Development Centers These RPDCs provide a strong foundation for delivery of professional development and support not only to schools and districts most in need of improvement, but to all schools and districts in Missouri.
