Math Review Day 1 1.Solve the equation for the given variable. 2. Find the slope of a line through (0,0) and (-4,-4). 3. Compare and contrast parallel and skew lines. 4. Give a logical conclusion, if possible. If it is cold outside, then it should be snowing. If it is snowing, then it should stick enough to cancel school. 5. Determine whether there is an error. If there is, correct it. If not, then give the reasons for each step.

What are Tessellations? tile-sized pictures made from single tiles that repeat to fill a 2D or 3D space completely without gaps or overlaps tiles can be the shape of animals, people, and things collection of figures that cover a plane with no gaps or overlaps

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? Can regular triangles tessellate?Yes! 60 ° +60 ° +60 ° +60 ° +60 ° +60 ° =360 °

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? Can squares tessellate?Yes! 90 ° +90 ° +90 ° +90 ° =360 °

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? Can regular pentagons tessellate? No! 108 ° +108 ° +108 ° =324 ° ≠360 °

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? Can regular hexagons tessellate?Yes! 120 ° +120 ° +120 ° =360 °

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? Can regular heptagons tessellate?No! 128.6 ° + 128.6 ° + 128.6 ° =385.8 °

How do you know if a regular polygon tessellates? The sum of the angles at the vertex must equal 360 ° Is the measure of one interior angle of a polygon is 140 °, can it tessellate? 140 ° +140 ° =280 ° 280 ° +140 ° =420 ° No!

Can this shape tessellate?

What is the measure of the indicated angle? Will the shape tessellate? 90 ° +180 ° +45+45 360 ° 90+x+x=180 90+2x=180 2x=90x=45

Find the measure of ∠1. 45 ° ∠1∠1

Find the measure of ∠2. 30 ° 150 ° 123 ° 147 ° ∠2∠2

Find the measure of ∠3. ∠3∠3 93 ° 133 ° 45 ° 42 °
