5.  Wanted to limit the amount of land each person could own  You could own 500 iugera (325 acres) yourself  You could own an extra 250 iugera for each son you had  Wanted to rebuild the farming class by redistributing land  The Senate was resistant to the reforms because it’s members owned most of the land and it was the basis of their wealth.
