24 Incorrect Capitalization Rules 1)Only capitalize “Mom,” “Dad,” “Grandma,” and “Grandpa,” if they don’t have the MY in front of it. Example: My grandpa lives own the road.Grandpa Bob lives down the road. 2) Do not capitalize the names of seasons. Example: I love when the leaves change in the fall. 3) Capitalize all proper nouns. Example: LaPorte High School, Target, Six Flags, Soldiers Field, Iron Man 3, Twighlight 4) When writing a letter, capitalize the first letter of the salutation as well as the first letter of the closing. Example: Dear Mrs. Smith, Yours truly, 5) When writing about specific courses, you must capitalize. Example: Math 201, Science 101, English 230 6) When using quotations, capitalize the first word. 25 Pronouns: Define “pronoun”: noun that takes the place of a common or proper noun ONLY used when the common/proper noun it is taking the place of has been clearly established
