3 PURDUE UNIVERSITY ARMY ROTC 3 Who Can Apply Be a U.S. citizen Be between the ages of 17 and 26 Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50 Have a high school diploma or equivalent Score minimum of 920 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores) Meet physical standards –Have no history of major medical problems Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (U.S. Army Reserve or Army National Guard) Mr. Heslin: pheslin@purdue.edu

7 PURDUE UNIVERSITY ARMY ROTC 7 Step 3: Interview Completed at the closest University –By the ROTC Director –Doesn’t have to be the university the student wants to attend Looks at: –Scholar, Athlete, and Leader Criteria –Appearance (Composure) –Verbal Communication Skills –Motivation (attitude) –Potential Mr. Heslin: pheslin@purdue.edu

8 PURDUE UNIVERSITY ARMY ROTC 8 Step 4: DoDMERB Physical The Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board Once you have applied, you will be sent a DoDMERB packet –This gives you all the information you need to complete the physical The Army pays for the physical DoDMERB Website Mr. Heslin: pheslin@purdue.edu

9 PURDUE UNIVERSITY ARMY ROTC 9 Dates to Know High School Seniors: –Complete application by 8 JAN High School Juniors: –Start application 15 FEB Notification Timeline –Prospect receives offer letter and accepts scholarship offer to 1 of 5 school choices (within 30 days) –Prospect has until 1May to confirm or change school offer Purdue Admissions –Application has to be in by November 15 FAFSA Deadline –June 30 Never too late –Compete for ROTC scholarships on campus Mr. Heslin: pheslin@purdue.edu
