1. CUTTING RED TAPE The Government is committed to cutting £10 billion of red tape To help deliver this Cutting Red Tape programme was launched in July Cutting Red Tape is a rolling programme of reviews which will identify: areas which need regulatory reform enforcement practices which need improvement The reviews are sector based currently Cutting Red Tape = savings to business

2. CUTTING RED TAPE Reviews into waste, energy, care, minerals extraction and agriculture were launched in July with a review into Anti- Money Laundering launched in September. The reviews began with a ‘call for evidence’ to hear about unnecessary burdens caused by legislation, regulations, & how they are enforced. The scope of the reviews was deliberately broad and were aimed at issues including: data collection & requests, compliance checks, visits & inspections requirements to make applications for permits & licences, fees, charges & penalties burdens caused by consultations clarity of guidance & advice

3. HOW CUTTING RED TAPE WORKS Speak to, visit and listen to views from all sizes of business and trade associations Speak to and include policy Departments, regulators & others who have an interest We want to hear the views of business about where regulation isn’t working

4. All the views, comments, submissions and evidence we receive are then analysed and summarised in a report These are presented as findings We then work with departments providing constructive challenge to agree a response to those findings (a programme of work) that address the issues raised We engage Ministers as necessary
