3 LnCP Architecture Living Network - refrigerator, washing machine, kitchen..etc - Adopted generally 8 bit and less PC/AV Network - High performance equipment H/W - Needed for great amount of data and rapid speed communication Central controller - Communication other products or internet - LnCP define signal line connection method and signal flow

4 LnCP Architecture Category LnCP networks are categorized into two types ( Master and Slaves ) It’s only dependent on devise’s role in the home network. ex) master : TV, slave : washing machine. Slave device : follow the command Master device : control slave device and interpret the command code that received by slave device.

5 LnCP Architecture Fetures of LnCP LnCP is based on the event-driven communication. Two Method to know the status of other devices 1. Questioning other devices periodically. 2. Notifying the status changes when the changes happen LnCP adopts method 2. ※ Event-driven W aits for events to occur and responds to them, instead of going through a prearranged series of actions.

7 LnCP Architecture Protocol Architechture in HNTV. 1. Application Layer Application Layer is interpreting command codes and performing the proper action according to the command code. Command Code set is used to control and monitor the status of other LnCP In master devise, application layer provide the interface to the user to get an input or display the result of controlling the devices to the user 2. LnCP Layer LnCP Layer communicating with other device with packet format.

9 LnCP Architecture ※ flow control Management of data flow between computers or devices or between nodes in a network so that the data can be handled at an efficient pace. Too much data arriving before a device can handle it causes data overflow, meaning the data is either lost or must be retransmitted If a low-speed device is receiving a high-speed transmission, a buffer is used to store data until the receiver can accept it.

Data Link Layer Data Link Layer has common data link layer function At the moments only media access control is defined as CSMA/CA ※ Carrier Sense Multiful Access/ Collision Avoidance Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Detect (CSMA/CD) is the Protocol for carrier transmission access in Ethernet networks. Network collision detection and resolution technique. A node wishing to transmit first sends a jamming signal, waits, and then send the data. It stops if another jamming signal is detected.

11 LnCP Architecture Protocol Architechture in HNTV. 3 Data Link Layer House Code will be provides to support the plug and play feature in LnCP home network. ※ Plug and Play : Ability of certain operating systems to automatically detect a new device that has been added to the system. 4 Physical Layer This Layer is concerning the physical media transmission using Modulation / Demodulation.

13 Home Networking Digital TV (HNTV) GUI (Graphical User Interface) - devised with XM graphical library Application Layer - deal with all command codes LnCP Layer - devised with two tasks LnCP SND Task and LnCP RCV Task - tasks communication with application task using message queues.

14 Home Networking Digital TV (HNTV) ※ UART Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter.An integrated circuit which is used for transmitting and receiving data asynchronously via the serial port on the computer. It contains a parallel-to-serial converter for data transmitted from the computer and a serial-to-parallel converter for data coming in via the serial line. The UART also has a buffer for temporarily storing data from high-speed transmissions.
