Products (Since 1999): - Point Papers, Partnerships & Networking on S&T Issues - Events (293 Significant Events) - Projects ($625.0M)

2 2 Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow SMART Four States, One Region, Infinite Possibilities … Unique Mid-Atlantic leadership of formal collaboration among: S&T Governance - Congressional Caucus (Bi-Partisan) - Federal Executive Branch (DC HQs) - International Allies - State / Local Government (Bi-Partisan) S&T Execution - SMART Tech Community -- Academia, Businesses, Gov’t Labs/Field Agencies & Professional Associations Activities Conducted Via 15 Focus Groups Agriculture/Life Sciences Health Care Modeling & Simulation DefenseHLS/Fire & EMS Nanotech/Materials/Composites Economic Development International Space Technology Education/Workforce IT/Communications Transportation Energy/Environment Manufacturing Tech Veterans Affairs The unique aspect of SMART is the range and depth of above participants and collaborative activities.

SMART Board, Chaired by Phil Jaurigue, Oversees Group Actions DNC & RNC; Congressman Hoyer D action and PA State Sen Brubaker (Ret) R action - Bi-Partisan S&T Reviews at each; SMART Congressional Caucus meetings, not the SMART NFP. Economic Development; SMART PROC & related follow up; best SMART series led by Chair Debbie Burrell - SMART Board Gene DelCoco leads our OTA support. VA Group; Chair Byron Roth leads our most active group for collective efforts. - Vet & Families Lunch on Battleship NJ; 812 participants & 24 Vet-related exhibits - Supreme Court Case; joined 17 other VSOs, US DVA not complying w/ Public Laws on VOB Set-Asides SMART Women In STEM; Kathleen Brunner & Dr Joi Spraggins, new chairs updating actions Educ/Workforce Development; Priority Group; New Chair Tony Fowler promoting “Real World Design Challenge”; - State-wide than National competition for HS teams; 2016 is use of UAS for Precision Agriculture. - NE MD STEM efforts; STEM Summit XIII facilitated by Joan Michel, our MD Dep Chair - Also supporting Student Mock Election for 2016 HLS/Cyber; Chair Andrew Brenner conducts an active series of group meetings Drones; SMART Board Dr. John Lacontora leads our collective efforts across many groups; top Caucus topics International; Priority Group, Chair Bob Carullo - Awarded grant w/ NJIT & AECoC, conduct series of Getting To Know Europe events; Dec 3 rd in Baltimore Transportation; Chair Paul Labow, focus on Transportation Security & Identity Assurance

4 4 In Summary: - The range and depth of the SMART Congressional Initiative provides a very good platform for senior level support of and participation in by all elements, within legal & ethical bounds, for multiple tech enterprise & STEM education/workforce development topics. - Businesses lead our Board and drive our strategic direction. - SMART provides Businesses opportunities to extend their marketing and business development within the full range and depth of SMART. - Business to Business - Gov’t Funded Business - Academia to Business - SMART also provides Businesses assistance with: - Business Community Leadership / Recognition / PR - Workforce Development - Regulatory Issues - SMART leverages the Committee Assignments of 8 Senators and 39 Representatives and their related rapport with Federal Exec Branch DC HQs; again within legal & ethical bounds.
