For example: FIBER, SODIUM, SUGAR AND FAT. Foods may be fortified with vitamins and minerals, such as calcium, Vitamin B and D or iron.

12 Discussion Questions: How does the class trail mix compare to a store bought mix? Why is our mix a healthy snack? How can labels be misleading if you do not know how to analyze them correctly? Why is it important for individuals to customize their trail mix? What other foods could be added to this trail mix to enhance it’s appeal and nutrient content?

13 Things to remember when making your mix: Wash hands first. Only use scoops/spoons to touch food that are given for that food item. Only add the allotted amount of each food item. You only have to add the parts of the trail mix that you like. Measure correctly. Throw away your trash after enjoying your snack.
