4 The protagonist is the “good guy”

5 The antagonist is the “bad guy” or force

6 Great stories have a conflict Man vs. Man Man vs. NatureMan vs. Society Man vs. Himself Man vs. Machine

7 A hint about what will happen next is called foreshadowing For example, if you hear this: Then you know someone’s about to get eaten!

8 The time and place of the story is the setting

9 The climax is the most exciting part!!

10 The point of view is the perspective of the story “That rotten wolf tried to eat us!!!!” “I was framed! I just wanted to borrow a cup of sugar!”

13 Exposition Red Riding Hood, Wolf, Grandma The Woods Grandma is ill so Red has to take her some goodies when she meets the Big Bad Wolf Red doesn’t listen to her mom and speaks to a stranger (The Wolf) Climax Wolf tries to eat Red. Woodsman rushes in and kills Wolf. Falling Action Grandma is freed from closet They straighten up the house Resolution They share the goodies and live Happily Ever After Red Riding Hood -- Plot Diagram Wolf locks Grandma in closet and pretends to be her. Rising Action Wolf tells Red to take shortcut so he can beat her to Grandma’s house.
