2. Step One Finding Square Feet  How does one find the square feet or the area of place?  Finding area is an easy idea.  First measure two adjacent sides.  The formula looks like this  Length X width

Step Two Converting Square Feet to Acres  The most important thing to remember with converting to acres is 43,560.  This is the number of square feet per acre.  After finding the square feet of an area then convert to acres by the formula following.  Square feet divided by 43,560 or length X width/ 43,560

4. Step Three Converting Acres to Square Feet  Now to convert back to square feet is just a reverse of the formula.  Take the acres you have and multiply acres times 43,560.  That will give you the square feet. If you know a length or a width you can find the other side by divide by the known segment.

5. Some Practice Problems  You are buying a farm that has a length of 3,289 feet on one side and the adjacent side is 23,433 feet. This is a rectangular piece of land. How many acres is the piece of land. To the nearest hundredth acre(two decimal places). Remember length X width / 43,560  You own 132 acres and you bought 59 more acres this past spring. How many square feet of land do you own?  You own a rectangular piece of property. This property is 43 acres and you know that one side is 1,000 feet long. What is the width of the property.
