PRESENTATION OF THE FAIB The FAIB is the Federation of European & International associations (INPAs) established in Belgium in 1949.Objectives: To take all possible initiatives to encourage European and International Associations to be established and remain in Belgium To study, further and defend the interests of its members vis-à-vis third parties, notably public authorities To obtain official legal recognition of associations and associative movement by Belgian, European and international authorities, … Membership: 275 full members: INPAs - operating from Belgium - growing 25 associated members: experts (tax, employment, accounting…) 5 sponsors: offer business services Fédération des Associations Européennes et Internationales établies en Belgique 2

THE FAIB 2013 SURVEY - HIGHLIGHTS Positive trendPoints to take into consideration Constant increase of the number of INPAs - 2.265 in 2013 vs 1.972 in 2008 (last survey) A bigger part of the expenses dedicated to personnel and office running costs Growing global estimated income 2.9 billion euro with 84 % coming from outside Belgium + 5% from the European institutions Less overnights per stay (-45%) 94 % of INPAs based in Brussels (+9%) Less value for money for hotel rooms and meeting facilities Estimated direct employment 25.000 FTE including volunteers Associations have less office space More association find their way to a proper VAT registration (+32%) Some concerns on environment, transport and administrative requirements

CONCLUSIONS With the EU institutions based here, Brussels has an enormous “natural” advantage for attracting INPAs The INPA sector in Brussels is growing year by year and is having an increasing impact on the economy of the region Many points make the Brussels region an attractive location for INPAS, their staff and members, but there are areas where improvement is needed… FAIB is happy to continue acting as the interface with the regional and national authorities Fédération des Associations Européennes et Internationales établies en Belgique 44
