6 doc.: IEEE 802.11-06/1059r0 Submission July 2006 Mathilde Benveniste, Avaya LabsSlide 5 A single next generation MAC With respect to the MAC, rather than pursuing multiple fragmented efforts, it is possible to seek a single next generation MAC amendment to meet the common needs of multiple application areas While, in general, a TG with a broad scope can take longer to complete, the presence of common requirements in these applications makes it feasible to complete fast Pursuing a single MAC amendment is beneficial –Economies in chip development –Prevents talent dilution at the standards
