3 Objective 2: Preparing the data for upload Step 1: Open up an empty Excel spreadsheet. Create 11 columns with titles (these need to be copied exactly as they are written below. - Admission number - First name - Last name - Group - Username - Password - Theme - LoginTheme - LoginLook - LoginSkin - Role Step 1: Open up an empty Excel spreadsheet. 4 Step 2: Using the data that your school’s MIS system has produced, copy and paste the children’s first name, last name and their registration group into the columns shown here. Please note: The Admission number column does not have to be completed but the heading is required in the spreadsheet for the upload. Step 3: If you leave the Username column empty the learning platform will automatically create the username for the children using the child’s Forename and their first initial of their surname. You can specify a username if you wanted to. To do this then you will need to complete this column with the required username. 5 Step 4: Setting up Picture Passwords. The learning platform has the ability to create normal ‘typing’ passwords or for the younger children ‘picture’ passwords. If you would like the children to have a picture password then you will need to place a number between 3 and 5 into the Password column. This will determine the number of pictures the child will have to click on to log into the platform. For these children you will also need to complete the columns LoginTheme and LoginSkin with the word Pictures (please see image below). In the LoginLook column you will need to decide if the children will have Fruit or Animals as their pictures. In this example you can see that you can have a mixture of both. Step 4: Setting up Picture Passwords. The learning platform has the ability to create normal ‘typing’ passwords or for the younger children ‘picture’ passwords. If you would like the children to have a picture password then you will need to place a number between 3 and 5 into the Password column. 6 Step 5: Setting up Normal ‘Typing’ Passwords. The children that you would like to have a normal ‘typing’ password can have their Password column left empty. This will instruct the platform to automatically generate a 6 letter word for the children. If you would like to specify the password for the children then you can complete this column and the learning platform will use this password. *Please note that we highly recommend that all the children have different passwords otherwise this could potentially cause an e- Safety issue! 11 Step 6: Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Archive button to take you to a screen with the username and password on some business styled cards for the children. Step 7: Click the ‘Print’ button. Click on the Export button to produce a spreadsheet of all the usernames and passwords. Save the spreadsheet to the computer. This will be your master file.
