.William McKinley was born on January 9th , 1843, in Niles, Ohio.
.William was the seventh of nine children.
.In 1852 William’s family moved to Portland, Ohio.

3. Life Before President .William attended college
for a few months and then fought
in the American Civil War in
1861 – After William fought
in the war he went back to school
to study law.
.A few years later William
McKinley married Ida Saxton. They
both had two children. The two
children both died shortly after they
were born.

.William McKinley was elected to the House of Representatives and served two terms.
.In 1892 McKinley was elected as Governor of Ohio. He was the Governor of Ohio until 1896.

William McKinley was one of the most popular presidents .
McKinley was a Republican.
William McKinley served one term. William started a second term but, unfortunately he was shot and killed. William McKinley was assassinated.

5. Later Years Mount McKinley was named after William McKinley.
Death Date: September 14th, 1901
Theodore Roosevelt was William McKinley’s vice president, so he took over president.
