2. GENERAL LOCATION GROUPS IN VALENCIA The new neighborhoods were built on the periphery of the Valencia city between 1946 and 1988. The following examples are included in the Javier Pérez Igualada thesis: "The open building city. Valencia, 1946-1988"

3. VIRGEN DEL CARMEN GROUP (1958 - 1962)

4. VIRGEN DEL CARMEN GROUP LOCATION The Vírgen del Carmen group was built between 1958 and 1962, near the Cabañal village, by the architects GO-DB within the Flood Plan.

6. The group consists of 614 housing, many of which were awarded eventually to officers because the families affected by the flooding had already been attended. Virgen del Carmen group. Aerial view. 1963

7. In the original draft the project was structured with street traffic in the perimeter of the complex. Internal roads of pedestrian use to access the homes are appeared from the perimeter.. Three types of building are combined: - Linear block four or five floors, variable length with 8 or 14 flats per floor. - Palazzinas with T-shaped plan of five floors, 3 apartments per floor. - Block chain of three floors, formed by the union of two or three palazzinas. In the original proyect, the equipments (tents and a school) are situated around a square in the southwestern part of the group, near the Cabañal road, because it was the main thoroughfare. This tracing was subsequently amended in two phases in which the traffic is introduced into the complex, making the green spaces between buildings in streets and parking lots.

Finally we would highlight two aspects, the low height of the building, allowing that streets seem spacious and the trees can overcome their height, and the unitary character of the building because it is a public promotion, using same materials and same compositional devices in the building.
